Sensory Path
For the first time ever a Preschool in Siliguri brings for tiny tots a Sensory Path! Early childhood education is all about learning through the five senses. When they walk bare feet on the sensory path, children will get familiar with different textures like coarse, smooth, grainy, rough, soft, bumpy and the like. Sensory paths in a preschool aid in building connections with the brain, developing gross motor skills and also enable children to complete complex tasks.
Super Chefs in the Making
Children are born curious and as they grow up, are eager to copy adults and be a part of the action all the time, making this an ideal age to instill culinary skills in them. In Boond-The Foundation School we encourage children to take the role of ‘Super Chefs’ as we introduce concepts like kitchen safety, basic measurement and teamwork. Flameless cooking is an intrinsic part of our curriculum where we take the opportunity of reinforcing basic math concepts and other academic skills of counting, colors, shapes and most importantly following instructions.
Little Einsteins at Work
Children are all born scientists as they are all born curious. The world is an endless source of wonder to the children and they have never-ending questions. Where does the sun disappear at night? Why is the sky blue? Why aren’t there any more dinosaurs? Mommy/Daddy, why is the moon following us?
We enjoy discussing their queries and motivate them to share their perspective and observations. Children learn science through trial and error. They need time to try things out and think on their own.

S.T.E.A.M Activities
S.T.E.A.M activities are hands on approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics for guiding student inquiry, dialogue and critical thinking. The S.T.E.A.M classrooms at Boond – The Foundation School are highly collaborative, with students learning to share responsibility while working on group projects. Our specially curated S.T.E.A.M activities are not just about learning facts and figures, instead they present challenges and help kids come up with their own solutions, thereby developing skills relevant to the 21st century like critical thinking, innovation and cultural sensitivity.
DEAR Time
Drop Everything and Read (D.E.A.R.) is the time when everyone in school including the Principal, teachers and students pick up a book and begin to read for a designated amount of time. Every room in our school has a shelf or two of age appropriate books for easy access, for one never knows when the D.E.A.R time bell rings! At Boond – The Foundation School, we strive to instill good reading habits in kids at an early age which will prove beneficial for life.
Field Trips
Multi-sensorial learning is an important part of schooling at Boond – The Foundation School; children learn best when they can see, hear, and encounter things first-hand. Field trips are a particularly strong way to consolidate learning, as children’s experiences can be directly related to the real world. Our students are taken to various places like a science center, a hypermarket, a farm, an open-air zoo, a bank, a post office, a railway station, a park, a bakery, a fire station, places of religious worship and more such places that facilitate hands-on learning exposures.
Stage Performances
Children have an inherent need to demonstrate what they are feeling and thinking; some do so vocally, but some are quiet and shy. It is a recognized fact that ‘glossophobia’ or the fear of public speaking is one of the most common phobias worldwide. It is to stem this fear at an early age itself, that we at Boond – The Foundation School, encourage every child to go up on stage and perform. As they participate in stage shows, their public speaking abilities improve which in turn makes them more confident and enables them to express an opinion to a group of people.
Show and Tell
‘Show and Tell’ is an integral part of our school’s curriculum. At Boond – The Foundation School, we motivate our students to bring pictures, toys and other child-oriented items from home and explain to the class why they chose that particular item, where they got it from and other relevant information. This activity gives each child an opportunity to be the center of attention in the class as he/she speaks a few lines. This positive social interaction assists in boosting children’s self-esteem, fosters public speaking skills and makes them feel comfortable while talking in front of their peers. Stage fear is something our kids have no idea about!
Circle Time
Noted early childhood educator, Jenny Mosley started the concept of ‘Circle Time’ – a time dedicated for children to warm up and get prepped up for the day ahead. Participating in circle time introduces young children to the concept of time through a set routine and is beneficial for their personal growth. At Boond -The Foundation School, we have incorporated this model and have designed our circle time activities such that they help in developing positive relationships among kids, promoting oral communication and also increasing their attention span.
